Apple announces Maps development office in India, creating up to 4000 jobs...

As part of Tim Cook’s packed schedule during his visit to India, Apple today  confirmed  it’s opening a new facility in Hyderabad, that will focus on Maps development and employ up to 4,000 people. Apple is going to open a development office in Hyderabad to support Maps development.

Apple is opening a new $25 million development office in Hyderabad, where some 150 employees will be supporting Maps development. “We’ve been investing to expand our operations in India and are thrilled to have passionate customers and a vibrant developer community across the country,” a PR person said. “We are looking forward to opening a new development office in Hyderabad that will be home to over 150 Apple employees supporting maps development,” Apple added. “The office will also have space for many contractors who will support our ambitious efforts locally.” Apple's center will occupy 250,000 square feet. India is the world’s third market for smartphones and the fastest-growing smartphone market in the world. Apple’s revenue in India surged 38 percent in the holiday quarter versus the fourteen percent revenue rise recorded in Greater China, Apple’s second-largest market after the United States. Apple files application to open retail stores in India...

Yes, you saw the title. And it is true, Apple filed application top open retail stores in India. Apple has filed an application with India's department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) to build their own retail stores here, in India. India Times reported on Wednesday. With this, they are also going to start selling their products online. "We have just received Apple's proposal." said DIPP Secretary Amitabh Kant "We are examining it" The reason Apple hadn't made this move before is that the government just relaxed their stringent rules regarding foreign direct investment. So, technology companies like Apple had to cut deals with other authorized resellers to sell their products in India.
